...Granted, the squirrel is running for its life, as Moro playfully bats at it, chasing it in the snow and pinning it with a massive paw. Then she would release it, before letting it scurry off before trotting after it.

Don't let your guard down, though. Even now, the scent of a fresh kill lingers on her. Likely a deer. Her full belly may also be why this little squirrel is getting harassed rather than killed.]

It's my desire to walk this earth with my own feet, and see everything there is to see, whether it's painful or beautiful. Whether I'm in the form of a human, a bird, or a wolf, nothing would be any different—I'm still the very same tree from the hill.

Then why not take the face of a wolf, or a bird? Why did you chose to be a human?

Your world has gods, Moro? Not that ours may not, but... I've never seen or heard of any before...

[She's not growling any more, but her face is still scrunched in distaste. San was born a human and was becoming a wolf, but you? You became human, and she's not sitting entirely well with it.]

[He blinks in surprise, and then sits back down quickly—he's in the presence of a god, right?! So he should be sitting! H-he thinks. Maybe. They are like world leaders, right?]

I had no idea! I'm sorry if I said something that was out of line—but Gods in the forest!

Yet but a moment ago you were eager to challenge my wisdom. That changes so swiftly?

I've been alive a long time, but I've never got to meet one! I guess I was just overconfident in what I've been slowly learning, Miss Moro—I apologize if it came across as trying to be smarter! Trust me, I'm not at all, in fact I'm quite stupid for my age!!

[SOB; he's easy to work into a apologetic frenzy, if you give him the chance.]

I have spent countless years watching over the richest forest known to both man and god. The forest belonging to the god of life and death himself... the Forest Spirit.

I have been watching the last several generations of humans, as they destroy ground that is holy even to the gods.

[He just opts to sit cross-legged in front of her, curious.]

I guess... that is one thing I've been trying to stomach about a lot of humans... They can be so destructive, when they're not properly taught about things when they're little.

I'd never had a problem with those who lived their lives within the villages scattered throughout the forest. They only took the bare minimum to survive, but the people from The Capital...

They don't know when to stop.

It will all end, in my forest. The boars have already marched to their deaths, the only survivor turning into a demon. And the humans march, into the depths of the forest.

They will cut the head of the Forest Spirit, and all will die.

My only regret is not biting off the head of that woman leading them before I died.

[That was a cruel thing to hear. His faces turns into a look of genuine sorrow; to have an entire place die...]

I'm sorry for what's happened. It is something no forest should have to go through, least of all to a god like yourself who watches it.

I only woe not being able to witness their moment of realization, when the Forest Spirit will swallow them and steal the life back from them.

But still... for so many to perish for that... It's a cruel thing. I wish something could have been done.

[Moro stays silent. She knew, the very moment that the humans brought their guns, that the forest was doomed. The gods would die. And Moro did all she could manage to do.]

[He smiles.]

But I'm glad you're here, Moro. This forest may not be much compared to home's, but it still needs someone to look after it.

[Moro is silent for a long while, before she decides on what she wants to say.]

If you turn against the forest, then I will kill you as I would kill any human.

Well, of course! That's your job, right?

[He seems entirely fine with this proposal. Mainly because he would never betray a fellow tree, let alone a whole forest.]

So be warned.

Consider me warned, Miss Moro of the Forest! And I'll in turn try to keep an eye out for the forest with you, if you'll permit me!
