[From the moment that the newcomers entered the village, coming from the South when she was towards the North, Moro showed many more signs of severe territoriality. The trees have layers of bark clawed into, pawprints are stomped into the ground, fur is shed, and various gory or gruesome little marks all around the village.

Moro herself is persistently circling the whole village, firmly policing who is going in and out. It takes her a long time to go around, as she walks carefully to try and not miss anything, but where she does catch someone, she leaves them be only if she recognize them as Lucetian. Any newbies may have a little issue, but if you can convince Moro that you're really from Luceti, it'll be easy to leave.


But Lucetians will note that Moro is incredibly violent and aggressive towards the visitors. She snaps at them long before speaking to them, chases them until they retreat into the village, and some come so close that they come back with ripped shirts, some torn out feathers, and one hell of an adrenaline rush.

As the power goes out, some undoubtedly attempt to cut the trees for firewood... and those do get more seriously attacked. Or don't come back - perhaps they make it deeper into the woods, but it's also likely that Moro kills and possibly eats them. But never a Lucetian - she leads them to dry, dead wood, so that the trees are spared.

She was behaving so well! Feel free to come and ask her what's got her so murderous, catch her in the act of attacking some hapless newcomer trying to cut wood, or if your character only just came to Luceti recently, get mistaken for a newcomer.]

He roars and flaps his wings enough to give himself some lift, stirring up leaves and dirt while trying to shake the wolf off as he does.]

[She also does not want to hurt him, too greatly, but she is extremely cross at being interfered with. She doesn't bite down again, releasing his leg and snapping at his face as warning.]

Begone from here! Do not interfere!

[He settles on the ground again once his leg is free, jerking his head back at the snap near his face. He growls and spreads his wings further out, trying to lord his greater size over her. It's a challenge, plain and simple.]

It is a poor host that would kill their guests, Moro! Whether you like them or not, that is what they are!

[Moro shows no fear or wariness, and her hesitation in attacking him comes from respect, more than anything else.]

They are intruders. I am not a god meant to be hospitable!

[That's something, at least. He'll rein his wings in some once he thinks she won't snap at him again.]

Not by choice. I know you are the god who guards the forest and I would not ask you to give them free reign of your lands, but death is surely unnecessary. They will scatter and flee before you all the same.

They are reckless and stupid. If I do not give a proper consequence, they will be arrogant and think me unwilling to do my job.

They will be gone long before they even learn what your job is, Moro. They are more liable to want to forget they ran afoul of you than to think about whether you were lazy or not.

If they are wise, they will live if they do not step into my forest. It is a simple fact. Those foolish enough to defy me are culled from the herd.

A simple fact for you and me, perhaps. Considering most of them are human, though? Expecting wisdom is a bit much, isn't it?

[He doesn't go for killing them, sure, but c'mon. Humans.]

If the animals are wise enough to learn not to cross me, then the humans will be wise enough. Those who are not will be torn apart.

I... see. [The dragon sighs heavily.] You won't be otherwise convinced, I realize that now.

[He may have realized that before, as well, but he did have to give it a try.]

Why do you hold such love for humans?

For all the trouble they've caused me in my life, I imagine I should hold none for them, but it still stands that the dragons of my land once gathered and decided to aid mankind in their time of need. So you might say it is an old habit...

You owe them nothing. They give you nothing, and you are not their guardian.

[merelychewed]

I am if I choose to be. Not everything is about owing and being owed, Moro.

[biteoffherhead]

Yet, it isn't your place to tamper with my role. Dragon or not, you cannot stop me - this is what I am meant to do.

[merelychewed]

I could. [And it looks like he does stop to think about it for a moment, but then he shakes his head.] But a forest is not made for a dragon to be crashing around in, so you do have me there.

You will not pursue them into the village?

I will die to do my job.

If they escape into the village, then they will live.
